Will of Michael Bartlett of Hampton Parish, York Co., planter. To son Michael Bartlett, one flock bed boulster, and rugg, 2 pewter dishes, 1 iron pott and 1 chest, to be paid to him at age 21; also 1 feather bed, boulster and rugg and set of curtaines and valiances at death of his mother and my loving wife Mary Bartlett. To daughter Diana Bartlett, 1 feather bed, bolster, rugg, pewter dish and chest. To my son in law Alexander Moore, who married my daughter Elizabeth, 5 shillings for his wife's portion, and if daughter Elizabeth has a child, my wife Mary when she thinks fit, shall give to child a feather bed, bolster, rugg and set of curtains and valiances, 2 pewter dishes and a chest. The cattle I have of Mary Gillam, dec'd late of the same parish, to be divided into three equal parts, with 1/3 to Michael, 1/3 to Diana and 1/3 to child or children of Elizabeth. All rest to my wife and she to be executrix. After death of my wife my son John Bartlett is to have the care of Michael and Diana. Dated 6 May 1667. Wit: John Figg, Edmund Watts. Mary Bartlett of New Poquoson Parish, York Co., widdow, for love and affection to my son Michael Bartlett, one black heifer, sett of iron wedges, 1 iron pestle, 1 gun, 1 great brasse candlestick, 1 large pewter tankard, 1 pewter dish, 1 brooding sow, 1 barrow at age 21, but if he dies under 21, to my daughter Diana Bartlett. I give to my daughter Diana 7 yrds. serge, 1 ell of fine Holland, case, 1 pewter dish, 1 pewter bason, 1 pewter tankard, 1 earthen candle cup with pewter cover and botton bound with pewter, 1 table, 2 porringers, to be paid when of age or married. 20 March 1670. He gave to his son Michael Bartlett, a cow, foal and old mare, to be used for his schooling, a large pewter pot (3 1/2 gal), new frying pan, new flock bed and furniture and 100 acres of land, when he comes of age. Wo wife, rest of estate and other 100 acres; and after death of wife the 100 to go to son. If wife should marry any who would be cross to my child, then my brother, Michael Bartlett to have the child and estate. Also my father-in-law, Robert Everett, to be overseer of will.
