Goffigan Family Cemetery

Virginia Beach (formerly Princess Anne County), VA

It sits in the edge of the woods.  A field separates the woods and cemetery from heavily traveled Mill Dam Road.  The shortest path is from Hawaiian Drive.  Coming from Hawaiian, one approaches the cemetery through the yard of a descendant whose great-grandparents had farmed the land.  His father is also buried in the family plot over which he keeps watch.  Other family members also live on the short street.  How fortunate is the cemetery to have loving hands nearby to protect and maintain.  Cemetery Photographed May 15, 2004.

William Goffigan was born about 1866 in Virginia, as were both his parents.  He was a farmer.  He and his wife Virginia married about 1885 and had 9 living children in 1910, all of whom were living in their household at the time.
